Parade Uniform

The Gold's Dragoons parade uniform is worn on our official parade events. It is an exact copy of the uniform worn on mounted parades in the 1930s. Beige riding britches are worn with plain topped black riding boots. Spurs are optional.
On the collar is a "GD" in gold on the right and a gold rank bar on the left.
A black Sam Browne belt is worn, which rests on the two back button shanks and the cross brace is worn under the chains on the right shoulder
All buttons are "eagle" pattern.
Appointment badges and award badges are worn as per the mess dress.
Black leather gloves are worn in winter, white cotton gloves in summer.
The regimental hat is worn with a collar dog as the cap badge. The two side buttons are "eagle" pattern.
The parade uniform may also be worn with Black Watch trews, with spurs optional.
The parade uniform may be worn at dinner events instead of mess dress, when appointed "duty officer" but without the Sam Browne belt. Trews are worn at dinner, not riding boots. Spurs are optional with George boots.
According to our records, Gold's Dragoons was the only American unit to wear cavalry chain mail on their shoulders. For more information, see parade uniform tab.

Mess Dress

Mess Dress comprises the jacket, black waistcoat and Black Watch trews. Gold shoulder cords may be added when a member's probation is complete (on their third Nominating dinner). A black cummerbund may be worn instead of the waistcoat. Tuxedo pants are optional, except on parade, when trews are required. Spurs are optional, with George boots. Members who do not have mess dress are encouraged to wear Black Watch trews with a tuxedo jacket. For more information, see mess dress tab
