2025 Polo Supper
The move to the Saturday for the polo match mean the replacement of the dinner dance with a outdoor polo supper. As we were the sponsors of the event, the members of Gold's Dragoons wore "field mess dress" (mess jacket over civilian clothing , without medals). At the end of the meal we did our traditional "sabrage", opening a champagne bottle with a saber, and asking Mrs. Hannah Madzio to do the honors, which she did in fine style. Photos of the event will be put up, when available

2024 Polo Dinner Dance
The 2024 black tie Polo dinner dance was our last dance held at the Fairfield Hunt Club, 174 Long Lots Road, Westport, on Saturday, September 7th, starting at 6.30 pm and concluding at 11 pm. This was also our annual guest night when we invite spouses, adult children and other friends to share an evening with Gold's Dragoons. With the move to the Saturday for the polo match we have replaced it with a polo supper, on a less formal basis.
Guests were entertained on arrival by the pipe major, Terence McGovern. With the guests seated the troop officers "marched on" led by the pipe major and the Mess Vice President, Ox Gara, carrying the troop guidon. followed by the mess president and the captain of Polo, Jim DeAngelis, Hon. Treasurer, Chester Burley and Membership Secretary, Robert Kovacs.
Dancing was be provided by the Joe Holmes Swing Band, our orchestral quartet from prior years. At the band break we had a brief video presented by the Equus Effect, our chosen charity and pledge cards were be available on the tables to donate to this very worthy charity.
After the presentation we opened a bottle of champagne the old-fashioned way - by saber - and all polo players, foxhunters and members of Gold's and their guests are invited to imbibe from the polo trophy.
Thereafter, the evening returned to dancing and concluded by 11 pm.
Photos from the 2024 event are below. Photos from prior dinners can be seen in the Gallery tab.
